This is my take on the article
Is this not ok?
- anti-Israel protestors block rush hour traffic
- Jewish Canadians being harassed
- racism at various university encampments
- protest “marshals” physically preventing professors and students from accessing parts of the campus, because he was Jewish.
- Outstanding agitators infiltrating campuses
War is toxic - seeing the ravages of war is heartbreaking 💔
😢Seeing a Palestinian 5 year old child having to be displaced again - with nowhere to go - as a result of war and conflict is heartbreaking
😢Seeing 1000 humans raped and slaughtered while their neighbours are celebrating this orgy of mayhem is beyond comprehensible
- Terrorism is toxic - seeing the ravages of war is heartbreaking
- Evil is toxic
- “occupation” is “toxic”
- “right-wing extremism.” is toxic
- “Left-wing extremism.” is toxic
Having food, music, good times in a democracy where you live
- “when there’s no peace in the Middle East.”
- “when people are starving in Africa.”
- “when people are being persecuted in China .
- “when there is war in the Ukraine.”
Seems unfair and we should do what we can to “right these wrongs”
Peaceful protests , music concerts and healthy debate identifying ways to making people aware are a good thing
However
- “Peaceful protests” calling for a new “intifada,” is toxic
- “Peaceful protests” Calling for genocide of a people - protesting a genocide “from the river to the sea” - is toxic
- “Peaceful protests”Celebrating Hamas and others, organizing terror attacks that killed or wounded thousands of Israeli citizens is toxic
Free speech is good but chants that are widely interpreted as calls for terror attacks against Jews or anyone do not reflect the values that I believe in
Questions
- Is civil disobedience - causing mayhem - and disrupting order supporting one side in a conflict or a cause you believe ok?
- Is it ok bringing a conflict where you come from to a place where you have emigrated to ok?
- peace to Gaza?
- cessation of war in Ukraine ?
- starvation in Africa ?
What if the cause that you believe in have 2 or more points points of view ?
Is there not a time and a place to discuss and debate these issues - to communicate, listen, collaborate , develop strategies to right wrongs and move forward ?
Whipping up racism against any minority and inciting violence while protesting for peace is unacceptable
This shameful incongruence comes as no surprise says Mark Mcqueen
And there is a backlash in Ontario and the USA - and hopefully in Australia , England and any civilised nation as well!!
“You don’t come to Ontario, no matter what culture you are, and stir things up.”says Doug Ford
“You don’t come to USA, no matter what culture you are, and stir things up.” Says Trump “you disturb the peace - you get deported
“remove those people.” he says
Are we the frog in the proverbial pot, and the water’s about to boil?
Let us be the light and show the world what can be done
