Is this the most important race humanity has ever faced

The last few years have seen fires, floods , reefs and ecosystems destroyed - and awareness is being aroused about the need to do something and do something now!

This is the decisive decade and climate Pollution needs to plummet …. No ifs no buts….. we just need to do it

So what is CoP 26 ?

26th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26)

Nations are coming to the party committing to reduce emissions by half in the next 10 years and with 2/3 of the world giving an end date to fossil fuels being used by 2050 .

Even with this commitment the world is on track to a devastating 2.7 degrees of warming – an amount that the science tells us is almost certainly incompatible with well-functioning human societies. In fact , the  science demands that Australia reduce its emissions by 75 per cent below 2005 levels by 2030 and achieve net zero by 2035.

But there  is momentum, and  countries are looking to step up their actions through the 2020s - giving hope that we can leave a legacy  to our children and grandchildren to allow them to survive and thrive

Call to Australia and Australians

Australia needs to come to the party - we have a lot to lose and and enormous amount to gain

Australia is a carbon giant. Accounting for emissions produced here and those resulting from Australian fossil fuel exports, we are the fifth biggest source of climate pollution worldwide, behind only the US, EU, China and Russia, despite having only a fraction of the population. We are a huge contributor to this global crisis.

And we have the power to make a difference

  • Let’sprevent a future of increasing dangers and hardships for communities everywhere.
  • Let’s have a meaningful national plan to drive down our emissions and unlock our renewable energy potential,
  • Let’s be the shining light in the mission to solve this wicked problem - and encourage others to also lift their game
  • Let’s find the  untapped potential for climate solutions, and move beyond fossil fuels.
  • Let’s be a titan of the new clean economy, catalysing climate action far beyond our shores.
  • Let’s  create  the economic opportunities of the global energy transition,

Australia is one of the sunniest and windiest countries on the planet, with scope to produce renewable energy that far exceeds our domestic needs.

We are the lucky country
Our choices matter.
