Trust is one of our core values at BSI and is the last T in TREAT.

T - Trust - if you don’t have trust amongst your stakeholders - the end is near
Very often - something happens - where trust is lost . You have done something that was in conflict with the other party, you were not reliable, you did something wrong.
The reality is - we are all human - and “nobody”is perfect - (if they were perfect - we would call that person “Nobody”!!
Building trust requires a leader to Articulate Communicate and be True.
Clearly articulate their Values, Mission Vision and Goals, effectively Communicate them and Do what they Say they will do! (Under Promise and over deliver)
Below is a great Synopsis of an article from knowledge@wharton by Gregory P. Shea
Ten Steps for Rebuilding Trust
- Be clear on your Values Be clear on what you stand for. Your values will guide you on making the right decisions As Malcolm X said, “A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything.”
- Be clear on your Purpose and what you want to achieve - Define and Articulate your Vision and Mission with Chrystal clarity
- Listen. Understand the other persons frame of mind. Understanding that framework will determine how you will communicate to that person. Choose your words carefully . As my mentor Allen Parhmarajah says - “Listen is the first L in leadership - and listen and silent have the same letters”. It’s not what you say that matters, it’s what gets heard - and that is directly correlated to how you say it!
- Have Empathy - Communicate well - Tell the truth and and be transparent. Articulate your Goals Create clarity - Be clear on your expectations. Provide no false assurances.
- Layout the Dots - Research - Collect the Data . Do your research - collate the Data - and share your sources. What data are you using and from what sources?
- Connect the dots. Articulate your Goal - or end state - Convey meaning and how to understand what is unfolding. Articulate what your desired end state is for yourself, the other person and the organisation , - or goal - one worth the journey - that will engage, inspire and enthuse .
- Lay out the Plan as you know it and the specific next steps that it will require. Define the overall strategy - and break those down into SMART tasks

- Be Accountable - Do what you say you will do. Hold yourself accountable by setting standards and objectives for your own behavior, and then meet them.
- Know when to lead from the front or feom behind ! Lead from the front when times get tougher and from the back when times ease up. Both enable others who can lead to step up and do so, having seen it modeled as well as having the space to try it.
- Look after your Team - Feed your horses, feed your people, feed yourself. Get your followers what they need to succeed, tend to their well-being, and then (and only then) do you tend to yourself. But don’t forget to do so, because your followers will need you tomorrow.
